Too Much within ONE Week!

I will be offline for a while:

1. My Mom had a stroke!

2. Michael J. Jackson R.I.P. (1958-2009)

3. My computer is still sick!

4. well, I will not talk about it.

Due to all that has happened, I will break my
routine of "seasonal" postings and come back
later in July or Aug. instead of Oct. that is,
Hoping that things will get better for me!

The Venus Project:

Last year, I posted a link about the monetary system, and
how it harms people and the planet of natural resources.
{Look under Nov. 2008 for the post and link}

Today I want you to know that all is not lost, and there
are ways you can help out:
http://www.thevenusproject.com/getInvolvedSupport.php

This link has bad audio, but you follow through, you might
have some of the same questions as the students in this
audience at Penn State:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZB9x-yFMFo&NR=1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHY9lolyU10&feature=related

There are 10-plus links to this, but once you go to YouTube, you
should see the rest on the site. Also, if you cannot find the link
to my Nov. 2008 Post of Zeitgeist, they made a new video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnK5mBCFTMg

It is an hour and thirty-seven minutes, so you will need to
make the time to see this.

Not Locks Yet!

Yesterday, I saw a nice set of locks on a lady at the store.
I gave her props, and when she returned props about my
locks, I had to say, "Oh, I got braids, but thanks anyway."
{Why I felt the need, I don't know.}
However, I guess the new-growth is finally getting noticed.
Even though I took a few pics, *Sigh* my computer is still
sick! If the computer gets better, I hope I can show you
more pics before the fall.

*Yawn* I just washed my hair {Sunday} and it feels great!
2 weeks until a Re-Ti.

Natural for a Change

This is about my high school {that I no longer attend of course}.
Someone I know is now a teacher there, and they have the
2009 yearbook. As I looked at the pictures I noticed a lot
of the girls had their hair in braids {and a few locks}.
I started to count and here are the results:
Fresh - 83
Soph - 40
Jrs. - 33
Seniors. - 42
TOTAL - 198 girls w/braids {some w/locks}.

Now, I know some of you are thinking/saying, "So What?!"
"That is not a lot."

Well, I have been out of school now 20 yrs! and do you
know how many girls had braids/natural hair-style in
"MY" Yearbook? TOTAL - Less than 12

Updates Now! {and a sick computer :( }

**SIGH** My baby {computer} is sick {crashed},

But I did manage to get pics on my Fotki {album}
You can check them out here:

http://public.fotki.com/Queenli19/braidlocks-2/

If all is well, I hope to have some more pics up
at the end of this month... I also plan to do a
"Re-Ti" around June 28th - July 3rd.
I might take a few braids down, but that is
most-def "up-in-the-air" at this time.

Take care~

Being Called Afrikan:

Current mood: irritated
and for those who don't wanna be called/considered Afrikan:
The paragraph below is from Candygirl20048 of Nappturality!

My culture is an Americanized African culture. If you think that we
don't have strong African influences in our culture you are mistaken.
Collard greens, okra, black eyed peas are all native to Africa. If you
have ever eaten gumbo, you are connected to Africa. If you have ever
made Black eyed peas and collard greens and done all your laundry on
New Years eve for good luck, you are connected to Africa. If you know
anything about root work or hoodoo, you are connected to Africa. If you
have ever been to church and have been "filled with the holy spirit" you
are connected to Africa. If you have ever rocked cornrows or braids, you
are connected to Africa. If you've ever danced to Salsa music or most of
the other so-called "Latin" music you are connected to Africa.
African culture is embedded in American culture the same way European
and Native American culture is. We don't recognize it because it is so
engrained. So to say that you don't know anything about Africa or the culture
is incorrect. Double goes for people from the Carribean.

Powernomics:

Even though I have this link on my blog,
I decided to post it here. This one is 2 hours long,
but it deals with our history in America, and why
we are in the condition we are in {in every state!}

Please watch this one when you get the chance.

P.S. {New pics of my hair soon, I promise! :) }

Until Next Time:

The curls did not last too long. Only for 3 days,
and that was because I rolled my hair. *SIGH*
I have to keep reminding myself that it was
NOT the no. 1 reason to have the ext. in the
first place! I hope to be back on blogger this
summer, and even though I didn't want to
do this, I yield yet again, and bought "another"
one-time-use camera! {I just hope the pics I
take this year will come out nice, so I can post
them for you}
Starting next month, the one year count down
will begin {for all those interested in what my
hair will look like once I take the ext. down}.
I had a nice month BTW and I'll be lurking
around this spring on other members blogs!
I have over one inch of new growth, and the next
"Re-Ti" is scheduled for March 30, 2009.
